Shamelessly Inspired (Do You, Boo!)

A woman by the name of Maya Washington presented a challenge to the world, or at least to the people following her on YouTube, to shamelessly promote yourself as a brand for a full year, 365 days.  She came up with this genius idea to create a campaign that would not only push her own limits, allow her to live by her own rules, and force herself to come out of the turtle shell she was hiding in, but also inspire others to do the same.  When I thought of how much I connected with her internal struggle of putting herself out there and sharing her gifts with the world, it was no hesitation for me to start blogging regularly again, amongst other things, and I was so excited to share this with my amazing readers.

In the midst of preparing to move all the way across the country, I've learned so much...already.  One of the things I'm beginning to notice about myself is how easily influenced I can be.  There have been so many different occasions where I almost gave up on my dreams, just because I was listening to someone who was too afraid to dream.  So, in order for me to stay focused and on target, I'm being extremely rational about what conversations I'm engaging in, what I'm allowing to enter my mind/spirit, what I read/listen to, and so forth.  Staying inspired is extremely important and it is going to be the key to how far I go.

So...I have boldly decided to be apart of the S H A M E L E S S movement, adding my own unique twists along the way.  10 Tweets per day that promote my brand, my message, my art, etc.  4 blog posts per week that do the same, 2 YT videos every 2 weeks, and 4 new business contacts per month.  It is time to release this staggering fear of what others might think.  No more hiding.  This mission, ultimately, is to live on purpose and continue to chase dreams, without apologizing for it.

Are you willing to join us on this phenomenal excursion to being better people, smarter dreamers and go-getters? Say yes! Why? Let Maya and Andrea tell you by {clicking here}. How?  First of all, find out what is holding you back and run as far away from that thing as possible, whether it be fear, victimization, people, etc.  Then, whatever it is that you do...whatever you are passionate about...do, love, believe in it and go hard to make room for things to happen and for gifts to flourish!  Yes, it really is that simple! The infamous catch phrase of Mrs. Maya W 'Do you boo!' pretty much sums it up.  -Chymere A.

Newsflash: The Beginning of Something Beautiful

It is currently midnight on the east coast.  I am laying in bed, doing what I always do at this hour if I'm awake: thinking.  For some reason, my heart is heavy and the world is resting on my shoulders.  Picking apart one thought at a time, I realized...

There are a few things I'd like to do with this platform that I haven't been doing enough of, which is fully utilizing this gift I was given. So much is happening in the world around us, and here I am sitting on my lavish, American pedestal pretending to not see it all.  A few times I've been humbled enough to come down to write about what matters, in and outside of my culture, but I don't think it's enough.  It's not that I want to bring all bad news to this space, like some overly-obsessed brainwashed journalist, but just to shed some light/share my opinion about the crazy things that are happening every day.

So much knowledge is absorbed every day and it goes way beyond what is taught in school.  I am constantly learning something about the world around me by simply reading, exploring, and through conversing with others. I'm fascinated with the fact that, although the world can be a beautiful place, there is still so much injustice, so much ugly, left for us to clean up.  With that, my reactions are sometimes that of frustration.  It only leaves me to wonder if there is anything I can do to help, yet I have the audacity to invest most of my time in this blog and other social media talking about myself or nothing at all.

'What are some of the things I'll be discussing' you may ask?  The first topics that come to mind are things like human trafficking, gun control, crimes against women and children, etc. Maybe in the process of writing about certain issues, I can help bring about solutions or come of with some of my own.  Honestly, that question has so many different answers. Basically, anything I am able to approach from a subjective point of view and flexible enough to conclude optimistically. Religion and politics are probably the only things I will try my best to stray away from, even though they may come up from time to time. In those instances, I will be as objective as I possibly can, being that they are both very sensitive subjects to most people.

Not everyone will be interested to read these news spills, but that is something that not only is nothing new, especially in the wondrous world of blogging, but also one of those things I've learned to not take personal. The same ones who are convinced that this post is too long, are the same ones who will skip right pass post that are equal in length.  The important thing is always to just do what I'm inspired to do, which is, in this case, standing up for what is right and allowing my voice to be heard by whoever is willing to listen.

Of course I still want to maintain a level of vulnerability with the people who have chosen to read my blog. Of course I will continue to post both random and consistent blurbs about music, and life, and style, and whatever other light and fluffy topics I can come up with. However, a voice inside of me is telling me to dig a little deeper to go beyond myself and my immediate reality and use my voice to at least influence a world change, or even a revolution.  I will call this "series" Newsflash, at least until something better comes to mind.

I encourage everyone who writes to stay educated and to put messages out there that promotes hope and positivity.  If there are topics/current events you think I may be interested in or if you'd like to compare and contrast to work out some collaborations, feel free to contact me via email: chymereanais@yahoo.com

In Love With: Lupe warm/slightly breezy summer nights that are so perfect for those late night swims or an intimate rooftop gatherings, illuminated by city lights and star lit skies..
 ♥ Obsessing over: completing all my creative projects before the year is over with. Many of them have been mentioned on the blog and the others are my little secret for now. Stay tuned!
 ♥ Working On: being more consistent, especially when it comes to this blog. It makes so much more sense to brainstorm a blog name first and stick to it, rather than dragging an audience through the debris of the process of coming up with a new blog name ever so often. I like the alias, but it's no guarantee that this will be the final url. I'm not even sure why I seem to experience a never-ending identity crisis, but the point is, I'm working on it. By the way, thanks to those of you who stick with me regardless! You'll never realize how much that means to me.
♥ Favorite Words: "I am not what happened to me. I am who I choose to become." -Carl Jung
♥ Favorite Visual: This awesome photo of singer/songwriter, SHEA ROSE posing on top of a photo of the legendary Bob Marley, who-in the case that you've seen this picture previously - is NOT Marley's daughter. {photography by: Kloe York}
♥ Favorite Sound: The melody switch up in 'Strawberry Bubblegum' by Justin Timberlake
Over the Moon About: where my dreams are taking me! Sometimes it feels like I'm moving like a turtle, and it's not long before I look back and realize how far I've come! It just excites me to no end to create opportunities that cater to my career focus.
Thinking about: ways to be more proactive with saving money and still be able to fully enjoy this summer (on a budget)....because we all know that Cali is the motive!
Dreaming Of: The day I'm officially a California resident (speaking of). I've dreamed of this several times throughout my life, so I'm pretty sure this is reminiscent of a previous 'Currentlies' nor be shocked if it's seen again in the future. It's always in my thoughts.

What are you currently loving??

Pearls of Wisdom: What is a Goddess?

"What is a goddess? A woman who is in the process of learning to know, accept and love herself on all levels; mind, body and spirit. A woman who, because she focuses on personal growth and self awareness, experiences a life, increasingly filled with peace, love, joy, passion and fun. A woman that understands that she has unlimited capacity to make her life anything she wants. A woman who is inspired to give to those around her our of her sense of gratitude and abundance."

Soundtrack Saturdays: Vol. 56 {Songs of Summer, Pt. II}

{Original Photo}
Happy June!!!
Today is a continuation of the songs of my personal summer playlist.  Because there are only 8 songs per compilation, I'm not really sure when it will end! After I finish putting together all the great songs/albums that came more recently, it wouldn't be right if I didn't pull out the old school summer classics, such as Boombastic, Before I Let Go, and the other southern bbq faves. I'm way ahead of myself, I'm just that excited! I live for summertime! {To check out Songs of Summer, Pt. I
